We were not disappointed and as posted previously, got our share of action shots. Granted, we would have enjoyed seeing the absent ‘A-listers’, but seeing some familiar faces and many more fresh ones was still a thrill.US-Soccer-Centennial-Germany-Football-Friendly-0613 (61)

American football is often referred to as a ‘game of inches’ since an inch here and an inch there can make the difference between winning and losing, between making or missing a crucial tackle or interception …

Well, inches in American football are centimeters in soccer/football where the same precision applies. Just think of the 2010 World Cup and the abundance of close calls and non-calls that decided critical matches, or the millimeters that sometimes provoke referees to wave the offside flag just before a goal is scored. In either ball sport, it is not distance or timing that determines the outcome of a play or match, but the players’ winning attitudes and commitment to fighting for every last bit.

Take it from Al Pacino and his awe inspiring locker room motivational in Any Given Sunday

“You find out that life is just a game of inches. So is football. Because in either game, life or football, the margin for error is so small. I mean one half step too late or too early you don’t quite make it. One half second too slow or too fast and you don’t quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They are in ever break of the game every minute, every second … On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We CLAW with our fingernails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that’s going to make the fucking difference between WINNING and LOSING, between LIVING and DYING.
